Nepal

Himalayan peaks, living temple towns and open skies

Kathmandu · Pokhara · Lumbini 4.8 (96 traveller reviews) Best time: Oct - Nov, Mar - Apr

About Nepal

Nepal fits eight of the ten highest mountains on earth, three UNESCO listed durbar squares and the birthplace of the Buddha into a country you can drive across in a day. Kathmandu's temple courtyards, Pokhara's lakeside calm and the Annapurna skyline sit a few hours apart, which is why a first visit rarely needs more than a week. Indian passport holders travel visa free, and the Indian rupee is accepted almost everywhere.

Nepal Yatra - Muktinath and Pashupatinath

4.9

Kathmandu · Muktinath · Pokhara · Nepal

A yatra built around the two darshans that bring most Indian pilgrims to Nepal: Muktinath at 3,800 metres in the Mustang valley, one of the 108 Divya Desams and a Shakti Peetha, and Pashupatinath in Kathmandu. The Jomsom leg is flown rather than driven so the altitude gain is gentle, and the return runs through Pokhara and Manakamana.

Pokhara · Ghorepani · Poon Hill · Nepal

The Poon Hill circuit, the trek most people mean when they say they walked in the Annapurnas.
